BILL GORDY - Piano/Vocals – Bill was born in Warner Robins, GA. At the age of 6, he began playing piano. During his teenage years he spent his summers playing Southern Gospel music for his local church’s prison ministry. Twice, Bill placed third in the Marlboro Talent Country Showdown. In 1990, Bill joined Florida’s “Fleatwater Sound Shop” and was signed to Doorknob Records. Bill has played and appeared with such greats as Conway Twitty, George Jones, Michelle Wright, Tracy Byrd, Shenandoah, Lee Greenwood, Confederate Railroad and Merle Haggard. Later Bill moved to Phoenix and joined Western Electric Band.Leon Russell, Igor Khoroshev and Ray Charles musically influenced him. He’s been with The HeadnSouth Band since 1993 and in 1994 played on HeadnSouth’s debut album “Once an Angel”. The album charted six top ten singles in Europe. In 2000, Bill played on the “Grammy” nominated album “Town of Fewer People” by Freddy Lovvorn and The HeadnSouth Band.
TOMMY BEAVERS – Drums/Vocals – Tommy had an uncanny feeling for the intricate patterns running through the rhythm of a song. Beginning at age 17, he worked at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas with Doc Severinson. From 1971-1973 Tommy played with Tommy Shaw, of Styx, and Beth Neilson Chapman in the band Harmony, throughout the Montgomery area. In 1980, he returned to Las Vegas to play the Stardust, Golden Nugget and Sands Casinos for ten years. In 1991, Tommy joined Asleep at the Wheel with whom he won two “Grammy’s” in 1994 for Best Country Instrumental Performance and Best Country Performance Duo. From 2000 to 2005 he was the Music Director at Hammerhead’s Club in San Destin.
ROCKO AVERY – Bass/Vocals – Rocko started playing at a young age with the bass genius Jaco Pastorious. Rocko has played and appeared with such greats as Linda Hargrove, Andre Crouch, Pat Boone, Sherman Andrus, Wayne Cochran, The Pointer Sisters, Jeff Cook (of Alabama), Lou Rawls and Bobby Purify. Rocko is also a great songwriter who has written songs for Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys. His latest hit, a stirring tribute to America called “Colors”, has been recorded by the Oak Ridge Boys and has earned a “Grammy” nomination.
FREDDY LOVVORN - Guitar/Lead Vocals--Freddy started playing the guitar and singing at the age of 6. He is the cousin to the Legendary "Emmylou Harris." At a very young age Freddy was exposed to the sounds of Emmylou Harris and the "HOT BAND". The Flying Burrito Brothers as well as Gram Parsons were his early musical influences. Freddy Founded The Headnsouth Band in 1992. His First Cd "Once An Angel" charted six top ten hits in Europe. His second Cd "Town of Fewer People" produced a Video that aired on 88 stations across the Nation. It also earned a "Grammy" nomination in 2001. In 1999 he was inducted into the Alabama Country Music "Hall of Fame" as a Music Acheiver. In 2000 the Golden Music Awards presented by Indie Tracker Magazine nominated Freddy for "Country Artist of the Year"..."Male Rising Star"... "Male Vocalist of the Year" and "Country Duet of the Year".. 2001 "Town of Fewer People" was awarded the Texas Album of the Year by the Fransis Walsh Foundation. In 2003 Freddy was nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Terry Awards in Dallas Texas. Also in 2003 his band "HeadnSouth" was nominated for "Traditional Country Band" at the Terry Awards in Dallas,Texas. 2004 "HeadnSouth" was nominated for Club Band of the Year. Freddy returned to alabama in 2006 and became the Lead Vocalist for the "Kandu Band". 2009 Brought enormous changes and the "HeadnSouth Band " was reunited.
ROGER SCHOOLFIELD-- Lead Guitar/Vocals- Roger began playing guitar at a very young age at fish camps and on back poarches for tips on the bayous of Southeast Texas. In the Early 70's Roger hit the road doing Elvis Shows and 50's acts. In 1980 Connie Cato hired Roger to be her Band Director. In 1986 Roger left Connie Cato and went to work with his old friend from Beaumont Texas Mark Chesnut. Roger was Band Leader and helped form the sound that Made Mark Chesnut a Star. After several years Roger made contact with Wrangler Star Search and was asked to be the new Band Leader for the new revised and infamous "Lousianna Hayride".. The "Hayride" did "Showcases" for all the up and coming acts for Capital Records, MCA Records, Sony, K-Tell,.etc... Such acts included Lee Roy Parnell, Tracy Byrd, Mark Nesler, Pam Tillis, Aaron Tippen ,Exile, Lee Trevino, Tanya Tucker, Tom Paul Glaser Frenchie Burke and many other Artist. In 2003 Roger moved to Dallas Texas. It was in Dallas that Roger met Freddy Lovvorn and Joined the HeadnSouth Band. The HeadnSouth Band played the Texas Circuit and in 2003 was Nominated for "Traditional Country Band of the Year' at the Terry Awards in Dallas Texas. In 2004 The HeadnSouth Band was Nominated for Club Band of the Year at the Terry Awards as well. As of 2010 Roger still plays with Freddy Lovvorn and the HeadnSouth Band and is now based out of Wetumpka Alabama.
TOMMY LAWRENCE- Percussion/Vocals- For Over 30 years Tommy has been a professional Drummer. Both Tommys Parents were Professional Drummers. |
